NEW YORK ? Country singers and dancing celebrities led ABC to a big week in the ratings.
The Nielsen Co. said Tuesday that ABC finished with its most-watched week in two years, with the exception of the last two winters when the Academy Awards were telecast. That's traditionally ABC's biggest week of the year.
But last week shows like "Dancing With the Stars," "Desperate Housewives" and "Private Practice" all had their best weeks since their season premieres. "Grey's Anatomy" had its biggest audience since last March.
ABC aired the Country Music Association Awards last Wednesday. Even though the audience was slightly off from 2010, it was still the fourth most popular program of the week.
Still, dominant CBS edged ABC for first place in the ratings.
