DAKAR, Senegal -- A human rights group is accusing the Rwandan military of providing support to a rebellion in neighboring eastern Congo.
Human Rights Watch said Monday that it has evidence Rwanda's military is arming Bosco Ntaganda, a renegade Congolese general who is wanted on war crimes charges.
Ntaganda is believed to have been born in Rwanda, according to his International Criminal Court indictment.
Rwanda's government has called the allegations of Rwandan involvement in eastern Congo "simplistic reports based on the same old unverified reports and lies."
Once a feared warlord, Ntaganda joined the Congolese army in 2009 as a general following a peace deal. Last month, however, the agreement disintegrated, and he and some of his troops defected.
